What Is Excel Export?
Mind maps are excellent for visualizing ideas and relationships, but many operational workflows — task tracking, status reporting, resource allocation — live in spreadsheets. Excel Export bridges this gap by converting your mind map's hierarchical structure into a clean, tabular format that can be opened in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet application.
The export process maps each branch of the mind map to a row in the spreadsheet, with columns representing the hierarchy depth. The central topic becomes the root of the table, first-level branches become column headers, and subsequent levels fill in as nested rows. This creates a structured table where each row represents a node and its position in the hierarchy is clear from the column layout.
The output format uses .xlsx (Excel Open XML) format or CSV, depending on your selection. The XLSX format preserves column widths, text formatting, and sheet names. CSV is more universal and can be imported into any data analysis tool. You can configure which hierarchy levels are included and set custom column headers for downstream reporting.
This tool is especially valuable for process-oriented teams.
