What Is GPA Calculator?
A free online GPA calculator. Add your courses with credit hours and letter grades to calculate your GPA on a standard 4.0 scale. Supports plus/minus grading (A+, A, A-, B+, etc.).
Grade Point Average (GPA) is a standardized way to measure academic performance on a 4.0 scale, used by high schools, colleges, and universities for admission decisions, scholarship eligibility, academic standing, and graduation requirements. GPA Calculator computes your cumulative GPA from individual course grades and credit hours.
Add courses one at a time by entering the course name (optional), credit hours, and letter grade. The calculator supports the full range of letter grades including plus and minus: A+ (4.0), A (4.0), A- (3.7), B+ (3.3), B (3.0), B- (2.7), C+ (2.3), C (2.0), C- (1.7), D+ (1.3), D (1.0), D- (0.7), and F (0.0). Courses can be added or removed dynamically, and the GPA recalculates with each change.
The GPA is calculated as the sum of (grade points × credit hours) divided by the total credit hours. A course with an A (4.0) worth 3 credits contributes 12 grade points. A course with a B (3.0) worth 4 credits contributes 12 grade points. The GPA would be (12 + 12) / 7 = 3.43. The calculator shows the total credits, total grade points, and cumulative GPA.
The course list is editable — you can remove courses or change grades to see how different outcomes would affect your GPA. This is useful for planning: "If I get an A in biology this semester, what will my GPA be?" The real-time calculation makes grade planning interactive and immediate.
