What Is Business Day Counter?
A free online business day counter. Enter any two dates to calculate the number of working days between them. Automatically excludes Saturdays and Sundays. Optionally exclude common public holidays (New Year, Christmas, Easter) or add custom dates. Results include total business days, calendar days, weekend days, work weeks, and the percentage of work days. Perfect for project deadline planning, HR leave calculations, contract timeline management, and academic scheduling — all running locally in your browser.
When planning projects, calculating delivery dates, or managing HR leave, calendar days are misleading — what matters are the working days. Business Day Counter calculates the exact number of business days between any two dates, automatically excluding Saturdays and Sundays, with optional exclusion of public holidays and custom non-working days.
The base calculation excludes weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Toggle "Exclude common holidays" to automatically remove New Year's Day (Jan 1), Christmas Day (Dec 25), and Easter Sunday (date varies by year). For holidays specific to your country or company, add custom dates in YYYY-MM-DD format, one per line. All excluded dates are clearly listed so you know exactly which days were removed.
The results break down the entire period: total business days, total calendar days, weekend days, work weeks (business days / 5), and the percentage of business days in the period. For example, between December 1 and December 31 with Christmas excluded: 31 calendar days, 22 business days, 9 weekend days, 1 holiday, 4.4 work weeks, and 71% working days.
All calculation runs locally in your browser. No dates are sent to any server. This is particularly important for HR and legal use cases where date information may be confidential.
