What Is Coordinate Converter (GPS)?
A free online GPS coordinate converter that converts between Decimal Degrees (DD), Degrees/Minutes/Seconds (DMS), and Degrees/Decimal Minutes (DDM). View UTM zone, easting, and northing for any latitude/longitude. Perfect for GIS professionals, hikers, and surveyors.
GPS coordinates can be expressed in several formats: Decimal Degrees (DD) like 37.7749, Degrees/Minutes/Seconds (DMS) like 37 46 30 N, and Degrees/Decimal Minutes (DDM) like 37 46.5 N. Different applications and devices use different formats — Google Maps uses DD, GPS devices often use DMS, and aviation uses DDM. Coordinate Converter converts between all three formats with UTM zone information.
Select your input format — DD, DMS, or DDM. Enter the latitude and longitude values. For DMS format, separate degrees, minutes, seconds, and direction (N/S/E/W) into the provided fields. Northern and Southern hemispheres are supported for latitude, Eastern and Western for longitude. The conversion results display instantly in all three formats.
The UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) section shows the UTM zone number (based on longitude), the easting and northing values, and the hemisphere. UTM divides the world into 60 zones of 6 degrees each. Zone 1 starts at 180°W. For example, New York City is in UTM zone 18N.
Each format result can be copied individually with a click. The conversion is particularly useful for GIS professionals switching between mapping platforms, hikers reading coordinates from different sources, and surveyors working with multiple coordinate systems.
