What Is Keyboard Tester?
A free online keyboard tester that checks every key on your physical keyboard. Press any key to see it light up on a visual keyboard layout. Track key press counts, view a detailed key log with event codes, and quickly identify stuck or non-responsive keys.
A faulty keyboard can be frustrating to diagnose. Keys that register twice, fail to respond, or produce wrong characters are common problems that are difficult to identify without a dedicated testing tool. Keyboard Tester provides a visual keyboard layout that lights up every key as you press it, making it easy to spot problems at a glance.
The tool displays a full-size visual keyboard with all standard keys including letters, numbers, function keys, modifiers (Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Cmd), navigation keys, and the numeric keypad. Press any key on your physical keyboard and the corresponding key on the visual layout highlights instantly. Each key press is counted, and a detailed log records the event code, key name, and timestamp.
This makes it simple to identify stuck keys (keys that register without being pressed), non-responsive keys (keys that do not light up), or jittery keys (keys that register multiple times with a single press). The key counter shows how many times each key has been pressed during the session.
The visual layout follows the standard ANSI keyboard arrangement. It works with any physical keyboard — laptop, desktop mechanical, Bluetooth, or USB — and supports simultaneous key presses for testing gaming keyboard rollover. All processing is local; nothing is sent to any server.
