Flashcards are one of the most effective study techniques ever discovered. The process of seeing a question, actively recalling the answer, and checking your response strengthens neural pathways far more than passive review like rereading notes. Flashcards makes this process digital: create a deck, study by flipping cards, and track which cards you have mastered.

The tool has two modes: Edit and Study. In Edit mode, add cards by typing a question on the front and an answer on the back. Each card can be edited or deleted. Build a deck of any size. In Study mode, cards appear one at a time. Click or tap to flip and reveal the answer. If you got it right, click "Got it!" to mark the card as known. Known cards are removed from the rotation, letting you focus on the cards you have not yet mastered.

Shuffle the deck to randomize the order — this prevents memorizing the sequence of answers rather than the content. The progress indicator shows how many cards remain and how many you have mastered. Study in short sessions, repeating until all cards are marked known.

Flashcards are particularly effective for vocabulary learning, medical terminology, language study, historical dates and events, scientific definitions, and any subject requiring rote memorization. The active recall and spaced repetition principles built into this workflow make study sessions more productive than passive review methods.
