AI-generated content is becoming increasingly common, but detecting whether a piece of text was written by a human or generated by an AI tool like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini can be challenging. AI Content Detector analyzes text using three metrics — burstiness, perplexity, and repetitiveness — to estimate whether content is likely AI-generated or human-written.
Burstiness measures the variation in sentence length throughout the text. Human writing typically has high burstiness: some sentences are short and punchy, others are long and complex. AI-generated text tends to have more uniform sentence lengths, resulting in lower burstiness scores. Perplexity measures how predictable each word is given the context. Human writing has higher perplexity because people choose words more unpredictably. AI models tend toward more predictable word sequences. Repetitiveness analyzes how frequently the same words and phrases are reused within the text. AI writing can be overly repetitive in word choice, especially with transitional phrases and common descriptors.
The tool generates an overall AI detection score from 0-100% displayed as a visual gauge, with clear classification labels: Likely Human, Possibly Human, Uncertain, Possibly AI, or Likely AI.
